Sublime music and riotous comedy with a satirical edge combine in Il viaggio a Reims, Rossini’s masterful comic opera. A group of the pampered and privileged arrive in a spa town on their way to a fabulous coronation, but lost luggage, politics, posturing and romance ensure that even the best-laid plans can go wrong.

Composed as a showcase for the finest voices of the time and featuring a huge cast, English Touring Opera present Il viaggio a Reims for the first time in a new production directed by Valentina Ceschi and conducted by Jonathan Peter Kenny, with musical accompaniment from the Old Street Band.
