What Dreams May Come is a new studio piece blending puppetry, theatre, music and song to tell the joys and sorrows of a life well lived. Performed by an exceptional cast of singers and a chamber ensemble of six musicians, this poignant and intimate work invites audiences on an ultimately uplifting journey celebrating one man’s life as it draws to an end.
What Dreams May Come is part of English Touring Opera’s current season celebrating the enduring appeal of Shakespeare for audiences, performers and composers alike, and includes work by Purcell, Gerald Finzi and more, all inspired by Shakespeare’s poetry and plays.
Valentina Ceschi, whose past work for ETO includes the charming and colourful Il viaggio a Reims from 2023, The Great Stink and their film for families, The Firebird, returns to direct.
