Tamsanqa Tylor Lamani
Tamsanqa Tylor Lamani is a South African-born tenor recognized for his compelling stage presence and lyrical vocal artistry. A recipient of the Fine Music Radio Singing Competition scholarship and a prize winner in the Schock Foundation Singing Competition, he was awarded First Prize and Best Interpretation in one of South Africa’s most prestigious competitions celebrating local composers.
Tylor has performed extensively in South Africa and internationally. His operatic roles include Tamino in Die Zauberflöte (UCT Opera School), Tebaldo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Don Basilio and Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, and a cover of Cavaradossi in Tosca with Cape Town Opera. He has also performed as Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi (Operatunity) and Alfredo in La traviata (Barefoot Opera, London).
As a concert soloist, he has appeared with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra in performances of Verdi’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah.
Tylor is currently the lead tenor in What Dreams May Come with English Touring Opera and is covering the role of Tebaldo in ETO’s production of I Capuleti e i Montecchi. In the upcoming 2025 season, he will sing the role of Marcellus and cover Laertes in Hamlet at the Buxton International Festival, followed by the role of Nemorino in ETO’s new production of L’elisir d’amore.
