Aidan is our new film for 8–14-year-olds based on Handel’s opera, Amadigi di Gaula. Embracing the story's themes of quest, play and adventure, this multimedia opera will introduce children to Handel’s music and engage them in a new and creative way.
The libretto is a new English version by soprano Paula Sides, who also takes the role of Melissa. The opera is composed by Noah Mosley, who drew on Handel's opera to write a score that weaves together arias from Amadigi with new music. The result is a colourful, fast-paced musical adventure that we hope will show young people the joys of opera and Handel and set them off on their own voyage of discovery.
This opera has a specially written teachers’ pack dedicated to using the opera as a tool in English Literature and Language teaching particularly in preparation for GCSE ENGLISH. If you are a parent or teacher, download this pack below and get in touch with Bradley at bradley.travis@englishtouringopera.org.uk with any questions.
