Aidan is our new film for 8–12-year-olds based on Handel’s opera, Amadigi di Gaula. Embracing the story's themes of quest, play and adventure, this ‘multi-media’ opera will introduce children to Handel’s music and engage them in a new and creative way.
The libretto is a new English version by soprano Paula Sides, who also takes the role of Melissa. The opera is composed by Noah Mosley, who 'collaborated with Handel' to write a score which weaves together old and new music.
The result is a colourful, fast-paced musical adventure that we hope will inspire in young people the joys of opera and Handel and set them off on their own voyage of discovery. As well as being available on ETO at Home, Aidan will be shared with secondary schools around the country alongside a new teachers’ pack dedicated to using the opera as a tool in English Literature and Language teaching.
