Samantha Hay
British soprano Samantha Hay studied at the Royal College of Music, and Birmingham Conservatoire of Music, where she was the recipient of the Reginald Vincent Lieder Prize, Cecil Drew Oratorio Prize, and the Symphony Hall Recital Prize.
Her 2014/15 engagements include further performances of her signature role Königin der Nacht Die Zauberflöte and her role début as Frasquita Carmen for Welsh National Opera.
Previous seasons highlights include Königin der Nacht Die Zauberflöte for English Touring Opera, also covering Hecuba King Priam; La Modista Il cappello di paglia di Firenze for Wexford Festival Opera; Zerlina Don Giovanni, ‘Pit Soprano’ in the UK premiere of Jonathan Hervey’s Wagner Dream, Fünfzehnjahrige Lulu and Slave Salome, also covering, Musetta La bohème, Angel Jephtha, Alice Ford Falstaff, Echo Ariadne auf Naxos, Karolka Jenufa, High Priestess Aida, and Beau in Sweetness and Badness by Will Todd all for Welsh National Opera; Lucia Rape of Lucretia in Hungary, Latvia and at the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg with Opera Europe; the title role Princess Ida for Buxton Opera Festival; Elsie Maynard Yeomen of the Guard, Yum-Yum Mikado and Josephine HMS Pinafore for the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company at the Savoy Theatre, and Bird in the world première of James Macmillan’s The Sacrifice.
Future engagements see Samantha return to English Touring Opera for Donna Elvira Don Giovanni, Priestess Iphigénie en Tauride, and covers the title role in Pia de’Tolomei, she also performs throughout the UK and Ireland in Strauss gala concerts for Raymond Gubbay Ltd.
