Sam Furness

Welsh tenor Sam Furness started singing as a chorister at Llandaff Cathedral and went on to be a choral scholar at St. John's College Cambridge. After that he studied singing at the RAM with Ryland Davies. Operatic roles to date include the title role of Albert Herring (OHP and Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse); the Novice Billy Budd (Teatro Municipal, Santiago); Jaquino Fidelio and Baron Lummmer Intermezzo (GO); Frederic The Pirates of Penzance and Števa Jenufa (SO); Joe Fanciulla del West (ENO); Vašek The Bartered Bride (BYO); the title role of L’Orfeo; Rinnucio Gianni Schicchi; Don Ottavio Don Giovanni; Lensky Eugene Onegin; Lysander A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Tamino Die Zauberflöte; and Bénédict Béatrice et Bénédict with the RAM, conducted by Sir Colin Davis.
