Oliver Rundell studied Music at Cambridge University and trained at the National Opera Studio. He began his career in 2002 as a member of the music staff at Scottish Opera, and joined Opera North as Chorus Master in 2016. Highlights of his work with the chorus include Billy Budd, The Greek Passion, Aida, Turandot and Parsifal. He was appointed Staff Conductor in 2023, and has been the musical director of the Opera North Youth Orchestra since its foundation in 2021. For Opera North he has conducted Ruddigore, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Trial by Jury, Kiss Me, Kate, A Little Night Music (co-production with Leeds Playhouse), The Cunning Little Vixen and La rondine.
