John Ieuan Jones

John Ieuan Jones is a Welsh baritone and a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music. He has performed with some of the UK’s leading opera and theatre companies and has travelled internationally as a concert soloist. Recent engagements include Trio in Trouble in Tahiti (Mid Wales Opera), Fosseyer in Hamlet (Buxton International Festival), Jacob in Yurei: The Ghost of the AI Empire (OperActive, European premiere), Capellio (cover) in I Capuleti e i Montecchi (English Touring Opera), Papageno in The Magic Flute (Wild Arts), Maximilian in Candide (Welsh National Opera), and a Flemish Deputy in Don Carlo and Male 1 in The Life and Death of Alexander Litvinenko (Grange Park Opera).

As a concert soloist, he has appeared at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Wales Millennium Centre, and the Perelman Theatre in Philadelphia. Recent highlights include the Lerici Festival (Italy), a recital with Julius Drake at the Machynlleth Music Festival, and a UK tour of West End Musicals with London Concertante, performing at venues such as Cadogan Hall and Lincoln Cathedral.

Alongside his operatic and concert work, John also works in theatre and made his debut at the National Theatre, London in The Corn Is Green, starring Nicola Walker and directed by Dominic Cooke.

He is deeply passionate about outreach and education, and has designed, directed and delivered workshops and performances for children of all ages with Clonter Opera, Mid Wales Opera, and English Touring Opera. He recently performed in ETO’s The Vanishing Forest and led their ETO Perform workshops in secondary schools across the UK. John strongly believes that every child, regardless of background, deserves access to high-quality artistic experiences. When not performing, he can often be found hosting or presenting events, or exploring the Welsh mountain roads on his Triumph motorbike.
