James Quilligan is a graduate of the Alexander Gibson Opera Studio at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He was previously a Monteverdi Choir Apprentice and also studied at the Guidhall School of Music and Drama.

James’ operatic roles have included Dandini La Cenerentola (Hampstead Garden Opera, Longhope Opera), Mr Redburn Billy Budd (concert performance), Bartolo / Antonio Le nozze di Figaro (Spira Mirabilis), Steward Flight by Jonathan Dove (RCS), Street Singer Die Dreigroschenoper by Weil (RCS), Tarquinius The Rape of Lucretia (cover, RCS), Gaoler Cabildo by Amy Beach (Grimeborn), and Flemish Deputy Don Carlo (Grange Park Opera). He regularly performs with the chorus of The Royal Opera.
