James Burton

Born in London, James Burton has worked with leading opera companies including The Met, ENO, Opera National de Paris and Garsington, where he was the recipient of the Leonard Ingrams Award in 2008. He gave his debut for ENO this season with Don Giovanni, and recent productions have included The Magic Flute for Garsington and the national tour of Bernstein’s Wonderful Town. He has conducted orchestras including the OAE, The Hallé, RLPO and Oxford Philomusica and he is Music Director of the St Endellion Easter Festival and Schola Cantorum of Oxford. He is a graduate of St John’s College, Cambridge and holds a Masters in conducting from the Peabody Conservatory.
