Ffion Edwards
Welsh soprano Ffion Edwards was a Young Artist with the National Opera Studio in 21/22. She is a Master of Performance RCM graduate under the tutelage of Dinah Harris and is an alumna of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
Ffion recently made debuts as Giannetta in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore Glyndebourne, Miranda in the world debut of Bolton’s Island of Dreams Grange Park Opera, Cunegonde in Bernstein’s Candide Welsh National Opera, the role of Kristin in Julie by Belgian composer Boesmans at Opéra National de Lorraine and as Frantik in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen English National Opera. Other recent roles include Oberto in Handel’s Alcina Glyndebourne, Queen of the Night (cover) in Mozart’s The Magic Flute Welsh National Opera and First Bridesmaid in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro Glyndebourne.
As a soloist, Ffion has worked with the English National Opera Orchestra, Welsh National Opera Orchestra, performed Bach Ascension Oratorio (RCM), Bach B Minor Mass (Tilford Bach Festival), Messiah (Bristol Cathedral), Eternal Light (Gloucester Cathedral) and debuted at the Royal Albert Hall. Ffion was the winner of the Wessex Glyndebourne award in 2022 and winner of the Handel Prize in The Maureen Lehane Virtual Vocal Awards 2021.
