David Butt Phillip

David was born and brought up in Wells in Somerset and was a chorister at Peterborough Cathedral. He studied at the RNCM, the RAM, and the NOS. He was a member of the GFO chorus, a Jerwood Young Artist and winner of the John Christie Prize in 2011. From 2012-14 David was a member

of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the ROH where his roles included Pang Turandot, Gastone La traviata and Apparition of a Youth Die Frau ohne Schatten. In autumn 2014 he made his English National Opera debut as Rodolfo La bohème to huge critical acclaim. He sings Don José Carmen for Nevill Holt Opera in summer 2015.
