Alexandra Meier
Described by The Times as having a “mezzo voice of searing power”, Alexandra Meier has enjoyed working with English Touring Opera in previous seasons covering and playing roles in multiple productions, including stepping in as Lel in The Snowmaiden for one performance. Last season she debuted the role of She Life Gets Stretched (Buxton International Festival). Other roles include Dinah Trouble in Tahiti (Grimeborn Festival), Hänsel Hänsel und Gretel (HGO), Angelina La Cenerentola (Longhope Opera), and Der Trommler Der Kaiser von Atlantis (Theater Basel).
Alexandra is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Opera Course and prior to that completed a master's in music pedagogy at the Hochschule für Musik Basel. At the Guildhall School a highlight was playing the role of Sister Helen Prejean in Dead Man Walking. She was an Opera Prelude Young Artist, performing a variety of concerts and lecture recitals. As a Britten Pears Young Artist, Alexandra participated in masterclasses with teachers including Antonio Pappano, Ann Murray, Roderick Williams and Gweneth Ann Rand, and performed in a recital series at Aldeburgh Festival. She has since returned to perform with Britten Pears Arts as an oratorio soloist in Händel’s Messiah and again in a concert featuring works by Bach.
Besides performing, Alexandra enjoys working as a singing teacher and particularly loves combining her two passions by performing in school settings. This has included Little Terror written for and with SEND school students for ETO’s Autumn 2025 season, and Vache Baroque’s educational show Agents of Sound for Key Stage 2 students.
