Alexander Chance

Alexander’s recent appearances on the opera stage include Oberon in The Grange Festival’s production of Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and as Ixion in Charpentier’s Orphée for Vache Baroque Festival. The concert stage has seen, in the past year, solo recitals in France, Germany and Israel; Alexander has worked recently with Ian Bostridge and Julius Drake; John Eliot Gardiner and the English Baroque Soloists (recorded for Deutsche Grammophon); the Academy of Ancient Music; Masaaki Suzuki and Bach Collegium Japan; Kristian Bezuidenhout and Freiburger Barockorchester; and regularly with groups such as Arcangelo, Vox Luminis and La Nuova Musica.
In 2022, he became the first countertenor to win the International HandelSinging Competition, also winning the Audience Prize. His debut CD of English Lute Song, recorded with Toby Carr, will be released on Linn Records in early 2023.
