News Story
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we are excited to offer our Autumn 2024 company a series of artist development events. English Touring Opera is dedicated to helping our artists build successful and happy careers and supporting them in the development of their artistic practices.
At different stops on tour, the Autumn 2024 company will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, coaching sessions, and more:
Personal Marketing for Performers Seminar – Social Media Workshop with Alexa Sorensen
Company members are invited to join Alexa Sorensen, ETO's Digital Marketing Officer, for a session covering personal branding and how to best harness the tools of social media to gain an audience and opportunities as a freelance artist.
Accounting for Performers Seminar – Finance Workshop with Louise Hetherington of Performance Accountancy
As well as being an accountant, Louise trained as an opera singer and has a love of all things creative. Spending much time within this exciting environment she has grown to understand the challenges many people working within these industries face when it comes to business and actively seeks clients within this sector. Louise enjoys a good puzzle. She is never happier when piecing together receipts and invoices to make up a set of accounts – which often comes in handy!
Commedia dell’arte: Creating Characters for Opera with Rachel Wise
Awarded The Grange Festival Prize 2023 for Outstanding Young Creative Talent and trained in Movement Directing and Teaching at Royal Central School for Speech and Drama and Intimacy Direction with IDC and TIE. This workshop introduces the main Commedia dell’arte characters (masters, lovers, servants) and plays with the hierarchy and relationships between them.
Individual Coachings with ETO Music Staff
Every cast member in the season is eligible to sign up for a coaching session of their choice. Repertoire worked on is entirely up to the performer, whether that be brushing up audition rep, preparing for a future project, recapping your cover role or just crashing through something to see if it fits.
