Support our new children's opera!
Between 28 November – 5 December, English Touring Opera are participating in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2023, a match-funding campaign which will see every donation doubled towards our new participatory Key Stage Two opera, The Great Stink.
The Great Stink will explore the impact of pollution on our waterways and other environmental issues, in a newly commissioned opera for children aged 7-11. Set on the banks of the River Thames in 19th Century London and brought to life by singers, musicians and puppets, The Great Stink uses the power of opera to raise important questions about how we dispose of sewage today, and how we can better respect the natural world.
Written by Hannah Khalil and composed by Omar Shahryar, the curriculum rich The Great Stink will perform for over 6000 children across the country next Spring, in what may be the audiences’ first live opera experience.
Help us reach our goal!
Every donation made between 28 November and 5 December will be doubled: £5 becomes £10, £50 becomes £100! We greatly appreciate your support of this important work.
For the price of a cup of coffee (£3), you could teach children the importance of caring for their local environment, and their local rivers.
For the price of a new book (£10), you could contribute towards the musical education of young people, by introducing them to opera for the very first time.
For the price of the average ETO opera ticket (£27), you could directly impact the social and academic development of Key Stage Two students across the country.
