Find out what it's like to perform in your first opera!

News Story

During our autumn tour of Handel's Amadigi, 17 young singers aged 9 to 13 took on the small but crucial role of Orgando, the God of Love. All of these young singers applied via our open audition callout over the summer, and most had never performed in (or watched) an opera. Here's some of the lovely feedback we have received about their experiences:

We wanted to write and say a big thank you for the opportunity that Charlie had to sing with English Touring Opera. He has been buzzing all week! This experience was so positive and we're sure it has awakened a love for the stage we suspected was there all along.

Samuel so enjoyed playing Orgando in Amadigi and the opportunity to perform in a new and unfamiliar genre. He was literally buzzing from the whole experience for days. He particularly enjoyed having his own dressing room (made him smile) and the really positive, perceptive and constructive feedback about his singing and performing he received. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity and more importantly the self assurance/confidence he has gained in terms of being a singer and performer.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who made Joe’s experience of playing Orgando so amazing. He really loved performing with you all and I’m sure he’ll remember it forever. Thanks so much for supporting him.

I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone at English Touring Opera for making George’s debut so exciting, friendly and fun. Needless to say, he can’t wait to take part in another opera ASAP, and this is down to his happy experience with you all!
