News Story
The performance of Lyric Solitude at Snape Maltings on Sunday 25 October were cancelled as a precaution after a cast member tested positive for Covid-19. The opera singer was not suffering from symptoms and had been tested in order to travel to Europe for work the following week. The cast member will now isolate for ten days as per government guidance.
The cast member sang in a performance at Snape Maltings on Friday 23 October. English Touring Opera company members and Britten Pears Arts staff follow strict social distancing and Government guidelines regarding safety measures. These measures are not only to protect members of the public but also to ensure the strictest safety protocols for staff are followed backstage as well as front of house. As a result of following these guidelines, the singer in question observed all the necessary distancing and protection on and off stage.
As the situation is now logged with the Track and Trace service, if there is anything further that is required of audiences or staff, they will be informed by that service.
As an additional precaution, the members of the company who worked closely with the singer will be tested and not perform again until they have had a negative test.
