Ruth has worked with English Touring Opera since 2004, performing on modern and period instruments, and has played in many of their education operas, particularly ETO’s SEND programmes. She was appointed Orchestra Manager in 2026. Originally from Edinburgh, she studied at the Royal College of Music, where she was awarded the college’s brass prizes, and at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin.

As a freelance musician, she has performed with leading UK orchestras including the Royal Opera House, LSO, RPO, CBSO, and the OAE as well as participating in their outreach programmes. She lives in London with her husband and three children.
