Key Dates: Preparation – meetings to be held between June-December 2024; Rehearsals – 2 weeks in January 2025, 1 day ‘brush-up’ in March 2025; First performance in March 2025

About the Role
English Touring Opera are looking to recruit a freelance Director to direct a new opera for Key Stage 2 audiences (children aged 7-11), due to premiere in Spring 2025.
ETO reach over 50,000 people per year with four mainstage productions and two specially commissioned operas for children.
One of these specially commissioned operas is created for Key Stage 2 audiences (children aged 7-11), and tours to public venues and primary schools across the country. ETO have a longstanding reputation in this area, with previous operas of this kind including The Wish Gatherer (YAMAwards ‘Best Opera’ Nominated), Laika the spacedog (Armel Opera Festival ‘Best Production’ Winner), Paper & Tin, and Shakleton’s cat.
We are looking for the Director to come on board to direct a new opera, which is due to be the third opera in our climate change trilogy, which will feature text, characters and story elements from Shakespeare plays.
