Corporate support

Corporate Support

Each year, English Touring Opera brings opera of the highest quality to the widest possible audience, covering more of Britain than any other company.

To do this, ETO relies on the support of forward-thinking companies and businesses to ensure we can keep making high quality work accessible to everybody.

For many of our audiences, ETO represents their only local access to live opera. The result it that they respond well to the sponsors that make our work possible, as was demonstrated by the audience reaction to Silvikrin’s sponsorship of ETO’s Autumn 2011 tour:

“I think it’s amazing that Silvikrin are helping everyone across the country get wonderful performances like tonight. Thank you so much.”

Whether your company is looking to promote your brand or product to regional and national audiences, enhance your Corporate Social Responsibility programme, or offer staff and clients an unforgettable evening of entertainment, ETO can create bespoke and individually tailored partnerships to help you meet your aims.

We would be delighted to discuss your ideas to develop the best sponsorship solution for you, taking a flexible approach to creating something for every budget.

Current Sponsorship Opportunities

There are a number of projects which might be of interest to companies looking to reach a national audience. For each level of sponsorship, we can create a bespoke package of benefits to meet your marketing, CSR or entertainment needs.

Production Sponsorship
Production Sponsorship enables a company to be associated with every performance of that opera across our nationwide tour. Productions currently looking for sponsorship include:

  • Haydn’s Life on the Moon – This comic opera is probably the first to be based on a science fiction story. Directed by Cal McCrystal, Comedy Director for One Man, Two Guvnors, this promises to be a very enjoyable evening.
  • Handel’s Ottone – This wonderful opera was considered to be one of Handel’s finest during his lifetime and contains a treasure trove of fantastic music. However, it is rarely performed today. Ottone is a romantic tragedy, telling the story of a 10th-century German emperor and his Byzantine bride.
  • Puccini’s La bohème – One of the world’s favourite operas with some of the most glorious music. Puccini brings the romance, joy and despair of 1950’s Paris to life in this tragic love story.
*Donizetti’s The Siege of Calais – When ETO toured L’Assedio di Calais in spring 2013, it was the first time it had been professionally performed in the UK. Our production of this opera, telling the story of the Burghers of Calais during the Hundred Years War, was so well received that we are reviving it in spring 2015.

Season Sponsorship
Season Sponsorship enables you to be involved in every part of ETO’s season, offering your company maximum presence in each of the towns and cities ETO visits. Upcoming seasons include:

  • Autumn 2014: – Our autumn season is a festival of Baroque opera, with works by two of the most renowned composers of all time – Handel and Haydn. As well as a nationwide tour, we will be working in partnership with local choirs across the country to produce a series of concerts of music by Bach.
  • Spring 2015 – A season of glorious Italian opera, with Puccini’s popular La boheme touring alongside two rare Donizetti masterpieces, The Siege of Calais and The Wildman of the West Indies.

Education Sponsorship
Each year our programme of education work engages over 10,000 people nationwide, providing life-changing opportunities for people of all ages. Upcoming projects include:

  • Shackleton’s Cat – A new opera for children aged 7 to 11, celebrating the centenary of Shackleton’s polar expedition. Shackleton’s Cat will tour into schools and libraries across the country, aiming to introduce over 8,000 young people to the power of live opera. To find out more about our operas for young audiences, you can watch our previous production, Laika the Spacedog, here
  • SEN Opera – In spring 2015 we will create and tour a new multi-sensory opera for children with profound learning disabilities. To find out more about this important part of our work, click here
