Salisbury Playhouse welcomes the Olympic Torch to Salisbury with a new piece of musical theatre

As the Olympic Torch arrives in Salisbury, Salisbury Playhouse is staging an exciting new piece of music theatre that explores both the legendary Games and the theatre itself.

Parallel sees the Playhouse’s Stage ’65 Youth Theatre join forces with English Touring Opera and Oak Lodge Specialist Arts College to take over the entire building with a devised production that is inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. There will be just four performances between Thursday 12 and Saturday 14 July.

In this unique theatrical event audiences will be guided on a promenade journey through the Playhouse before taking their seats in the Main House for a musical spectacular telling the familiar and not so familiar stories of the people, places and events that have made the Olympic and Paralympic Games so special.

Music for the project has been composed by Russell Hepplewhite, composer of The Feathered Ogre, and the project as a whole has been granted the prestigious London 2012 Inspire mark , which recognises exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games.

Due to the unique nature of this event, and the limited spaces available, early booking is advised to avoid disappointment!

Parallel runs at Salisbury Playhouse Thursday 12 – Saturday 14 July 2012. For more information, please see the
Salisbury Playhouse website.

Please note that due to the unique nature of this event tickets cannot be booked online: to book, please call the Salisbury Playhouse box office on 01722 320 333.
